OCF Updates for the 2024-25 Climbing Season
As we embark on the journey of planning for the 2024-25 season, we are thrilled to share some important updates and initiatives with you.
1. Survey of Interest: We have taken the first steps in shaping the upcoming season by reaching out to gyms to gauge interest and gather valuable insights. Their input will be instrumental in crafting a season that meets the needs and expectations of our climbing community.
2. Planning for New Scheduling Format: In our continuous efforts to enhance the climbing experience, we will be looking to implement a new scheduling format. Senior competitions will now take place in the fall and early winter, while youth competitions will be scheduled for the winter and spring months. This adjustment aims to optimize participation and provide a more balanced competitive landscape throughout the season while also aligning with the CEC National calendar.
3. High Performance Program: The OCF will be looking to implement a new program for our High Performance athletes as we look to continue to prepare and develop them for upcoming National competitions in the fall of 2024 and spring of 2025. More details will come as our High Performance Plan gets built out, but we will be looking to bring the Top 8 athletes in each discipline together with a crew of setters for additional support and development throughout the season. This will be conducted outside of our regular competition schedule.
4. Updated Committees and Upcoming Call for Volunteers: The OCF Board is committed to ensuring that the 2024-25 season is as vibrant and successful as possible. To achieve this goal, we will be updating and approving committee terms of references for some existing committees, as well as some new ones. Additionally, we will be calling out for volunteers who are passionate about climbing and eager to contribute their time and expertise to support our initiatives. Your involvement is crucial in shaping the future of climbing in Ontario, and we invite you to join us in this exciting endeavor.
As we move forward with planning and preparation, I encourage you to stay engaged and share your thoughts and ideas. Together, we can create a memorable and rewarding climbing season for all members of our community.
