Age Categories
A competitor’s birth year determines who they compete against and what competitions they can attend. As climbers get older, they can compete at higher levels of competition which includes Provincials, Regionals, Nationals and beyond.
The OCF’s competitive series has Male and Female categories within each age category. In accordance with our Inclusion Policy, athletes should register in the gender category with which they identify.
The age categories for the 2024-2025 season are listed below. Please note that the ages listed for each category have changed from previous seasons in accordance with the changes made by the IFSC and the CEC. Click here to view the OCF release regarding these changes.

Born 2015-2017
May compete in OCF Qualifier events.

Born 2013-2014
May compete up to OCF Provincials.

Youth C
Born 2011-2012
May compete up to CEC Regionals.

Youth B
Born 2009-2010
May compete up to CEC Nationals.

Youth A
Born 2007-2008
May compete up to CEC Nationals.

Junior
Born 2005-2006
May compete up to CEC Nationals.

Adult
Born 2004 and earlier
May compete in OCF competitions (Qualifiers and Provincials).

Senior
Born 2008 and earlier
OCF and CEC offer a Senior category (combining Youth A, Junior and Adult) at select events.
