2024 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO OCF BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The OCF is seeking candidates for our Board of Directors. There are up to four (4) open positions for a two-year term (2024-2026). Information on our nominations process is included in the attached Information Package.
These are exciting times of growth and development for the OCF. Since the last AGM we have:
Successfully secured provincial funding for high performance and paraclimbing athletes
Created and implemented a High Performance Program
Sanctioned its first Paraclimbing competition
Our continued success depends on having a strong Board of Directors and other volunteers to support the organization.
We are hoping to build a team with a broad range of combined skills and experience. If you are passionate about sport climbing and would like to help shape the future of competition climbing in Ontario, we ask you to please consider joining the Board.

Para-Climbing Competition
The OCF is excited to announce Aspire Whitby’s first sanctioned para-climbing competition!
Para-Climbing is Sport Climbing for athletes with disabilities. Athletes are placed into a Sport Class based on their disability to allow those with a disability of a similar nature to compete within the same category.

Youth B, Youth A and Junior athletes are eligible to compete at Nationals.
The OCF has received 5 spots per gender category direct to Boulder Nationals (bypassing Regionals and not including those auto-qualified by the CEC). These spots will be allocated according to our published Selection Policy.
The 10 OCF athletes competing at Boulder Regionals will also have the chance to qualify for Boulder Nationals (the top 15 at that event will move on to Nationals).

Additionally, the OCF will allow Foreign Nationals to compete in Difficulty Provincials where they qualify. Where a Foreign National takes the spot of an Ontario resident athlete, we have extended the qualification to include all quota spots by Ontario resident athletes. The OCF is opening an application process for anyone who was unable to attend one or both of the Difficulty Qualification events. Note that there would need to be significant extenuating circumstances for the OCF to grant permission for an athlete who did not participate in a Qualifier to then attend Provincials. If you feel this applies to you, the application link is below, and the deadline is Friday, March 29 at 5pm.

The top 20 athletes after the two Boulder Qualifiers have qualified to compete at Boulder Provincial Championships.
This will be a two-day competition for each category. All qualifying rounds will take place on Saturday, March 23, and all finals rounds will take place on Sunday, March 24.

Application
Youth D, C, B, A, Junior and Adult athletes are eligible to compete at CEC Senior Boulder Nationals, and there will be a combined Senior category as well.
The OCF received 5 quota spots per category and gender, and so some of these spots may not be available following Speed Provincials despite this application process.
As per the OCF Rules, only athletes who participated at the Speed Provincials on Sunday, January 28, 2024 are eligible to compete in Speed Nationals. However, understanding individuals may have not been able to attend the Speed Provincials, the OCF is opening this application process for individuals who wish to attend Nationals.

Registration
The OCF will register qualified athletes in Vertical Life.
Qualified athletes must register and pay for the competition on CEC’s registration site (https://member.climbingcanada.ca) by February 8, 2024 @ 11:59pm.
Selection Policy
The OCF has been allocated five (5) spots at Speed Nationals for each of Youth B Female, Youth B Male, Youth A Female, Youth A Male, Junior Female, Junior Male, Senior Female and Senior Male. A handful of extra quota spots may also be made available.
The OCF’s quota spots for each category will be allocated according to our published Selection Policy to the top finishers at Speed Provincials at Pinnacle on January 28, 2024.

OCF Speed Provincials is open to all D/C/B/A/Jr/Adult athletes who attended the Speed Qualifier on December 19, 2023. Youth E athletes are not currently eligible to participate in OCF Speed competitions. Format
Youth D & C athletes will climb the CEC Official Youth C/D Speed Route.
Youth A, Junior and Adult athletes will compete in a single Qualification Round. These results will be used to rank athletes in their individual category (Youth A, Junior, and Adult) as well as in the combined Senior category. If an athlete qualifies for the Final Rounds in more than one category (for example, a Youth A athlete qualifies in both Youth A and Senior), the athlete will compete in separate finals for each category.

Qualification Procedure
The OCF has been given a quota of 25 spots per gender category for CEC Senior Lead National Championships at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
As per the OCF Selection Policy, the top twenty (20) athletes in each gender at OCF 2023 Lead Provincials will receive spots automatically.
Two (2) additional spots - as well as any declined top twenty (20) spots or any extra quota received from CEC - will be filled through this application process.
Three (3) additional spots will be filled through this application process for any second-year B athletes from last season (2022-23) who have moved up to be a first-year A athlete this season.

Qualification Procedure
The OCF has been given a quota of 25 spots per gender category for CEC Senior Boulder National Championships at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
As per the OCF Selection Policy, the top twenty (20) athletes in each gender at OCF 2023 Lead Provincials will receive spots automatically.
Two (2) additional spots - as well as any declined top twenty (20) spots or any extra quota received from CEC - will be filled through this application process.
Three (3) additional spots will be filled through this application process for any second-year B athletes from last season (2022-23) who have moved up to be a first-year A athlete this season.

2023 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO OCF BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The OCF is seeking candidates for our Board of Directors. There are up to three (3) open positions for a two-year term (2023-2025). Information on our nominations process is included in the attached Information Package.
These are exciting times of growth and development for the OCF. Since the last AGM we have:
Hired our Executive Director
Created and implemented an independent complaint process and a first-ever Strategic Plan
Become the officially recognized provincial sport organization for climbing in Ontario.
Our continued success depends on having a strong Board of Directors and other volunteers to support the organization.
We are hoping to build a team with a broad range of combined skills and experience. If you are passionate about sport climbing and would like to help shape the future of competition climbing in Ontario, we ask you to please consider joining the Board.

This event is open to all B, A, Junior, and Adult athletes with an OCF Competitive Membership.

Registration will open on Tuesday, October 10 at 12pm and close on Friday, November 3 at 5pm. REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.

This is a two day event. The Qualification Rounds will be on Saturday, November 11, 2023. B athletes will climb in the morning and A, Junior and Adult athletes will climb in the afternoon. The Final Round for all categories will be on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

Format
Qualification Round: CEC/IFSC flash format (6 problems per category, athletes climb 3 problems at a time, 5 on/5 off, break between sets of 3 problems, random running order, beta videos provided in advance, beta allowed anytime including in rest chairs but except when climbing).
Finals Round: IFSC semi-final format (ISO, 4 problems, 5 on/ 5 off, running order last to first).
Quota to Finals scaled based on # athletes in Qualification Round.

Only OCF certfied coaches will be given coaching credentials for this event. Please check-in as a coach upon entering the facility.

Youth B, Youth A and Junior athletes are eligible to compete at Nationals.
