DEI Committee Launches Fundraiser for Six Nations Wall

The Ontario Climbing Federation’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee has launched a fundraiser to support the creation of a sustainable climbing program on the Six Nations reserve outside Brantford, Ontario.

Following a successful series of webinars in 2021 which raised $1663 from participants and donors, the OCF has identified this project as an effective use of funds to improve the access to climbing for indigenous people in Ontario.

An $8000 goal has been set to purchase climbing shoes and harnesses, climbing holds, and an auto belay for the existing wall in Ohsweken. In addition to these material improvements, the DEI Committee is providing volunteers to educate coaches and route setters on the reserve, and will build a structured climbing program for the young climbers in the community.

If you’re interested in volunteering for this specific initiative or guiding future projects like this by joining our DEI Committee, please email us.
