Format
Youth E and D athletes will compete in a single round on Saturday afternoon using a judged scramble format. There will be eight problems for all athletes, with each athlete allowed a maximum six attempts on each problem. There is no running order, no Isolation Zone, no video appeals system and no finals for these two categories. (This is our pre-COVID format for these two categories.)
The Youth C Qualification Round will run using the CEC/IFSC Flash Format. There will be 6 problems per gender. Athletes will climb two groups (called Course A and Course B) of 3 problems at a time, 5 on/5 off, with a break in between each Course. A posted random Start List will be used for each Course. Beta videos will be provided in advance. Athletes are allowed to watch other athlete climb, may share beta while warming up and may share beta while in a rest chair in between attempts. However, no beta is allowed while an athlete is climbing.
The Youth C Final Round will run using the IFSC semi-final format, with strict Isolation rules. Each category will climb 4 problems, 5 on/5 off, running order last qualifier to first qualifier. Quota to Finals is based on the number of athletes registered in each category from the Qualification Round. (OCF 2022-2023 Rules s.11.12)
