Ontario Climbing Federation Releases Bid to Host Process for 2023-24 Season

August 10, 2023 (Toronto, ON) The Ontario Climbing Federation has released our bid hosting process for the 2023-24 competitive season. Beginning today, gyms will be able to apply to host a variety of Boulder, Difficulty and Speed competitions, building off a very successful 2022-23 and working towards an even more exciting 2023-24.

“While we recognize this process is going out a little later than we had originally anticipated for the upcoming season, there was an urgent need for the OCF to pivot our priorities this summer in an effort to secure new funding,” acknowledge Nathan Abdelnour, Executive Director of the OCF. “That being said, we do feel well equipped for a very quick turnaround to ensure an announcement of our 2023-24 competition dates and locations in the next few weeks.”

The 2023-24 season will not have any structural changes from last season, focussing on 2 qualifying events for Boulder and Difficulty disciplines, and 1 qualifier for Speed. The OCF will then put on a provincial championship for each discipline in alignment with Climbing Escalade Canada’s Speed Nationals and Youth Boulder and Difficulty Nationals.

“As we continue to build and grow the sport up again following the pandemic, we are looking forward to this upcoming season being our best one yet,” said Maria Richardson, Chair of the OCF Board of Directors. “We have more administrative and operational support than ever before, and we know how well the climbing community comes out to support our athletes in these events – it’s going to be a great year.”
