Important Notes:

  • Everyone entering the gym must sign a facility waiver. This includes athletes, coaches, volunteers and spectators.

Exciting Extras for your Weekend

Junction Climbing has arranged for Provincials’ t-shirts! They will be printed to order and available for purchase on site.

Junction will be selling Junction brand stickers, with all sticker proceeds donated to their Youth Scholarship Program. The scholarship covers 100% of the cost to attend Junction’s youth climbing programs and summer camps for children who could not otherwise afford it.

EatOA (https://eatoa.ca), a friendly neighbourhood kitchen located right beside Junction and within Anderson Craft Ales, will offer 10% off coupons to all athletes, coaches and volunteers. The coupons will be valid for the competition weekend.

London Tourism has a helpful site with information on places to stay, places to eat and things to see and do (in addition to watching the climbing action both days!):

ISO Reminders for the Final Round

For the Final Round on Sunday, athletes will enter an Isolation Zone (ISO) when they arrive at the gym. This is so that no one sees the routes before it is their turn to climb.

  • Only competitors, certified OCF coaches and OCF Officials are allowed into ISO.

  • Everyone must be checked into ISO before it closes. No late entry will be allowed.

  • There will be a suitable warm-up area inside ISO.

  • While in ISO, the use of phones or other devices capable of connecting to the internet or Bluetooth is not permitted so that competitors and coaches can’t communicate with anyone outside of ISO.

If you are climbing later in the Final Round, consider bringing:

  • Snacks or a meal

  • Cozy clothes (some athletes also bring a pillow and blanket)

  • Non-electronic entertainment (books, cards, board games, homework?!)

Once competitors move into the competition area, they remain subject to isolation conditions:

  • Athletes may not communicate with their coaches, parents or anyone in the audience until they are finished competing.

  • Spectators are encouraged to cheer for the athletes but cannot provide advice (“beta”).

  • Examples of forbidden beta include “Use the blue hold”, “Get your foot up”, “Breathe”, or “Take a rest”.

Coaches

Only OCF certified coaches (“Coaches”) will be given coaching credentials for this event. Please see our website for additional information: https://www.climbontario.ca/coaches

Results

Results will be posted at https://compseason.com.

Please note: We will score/rank a Senior category at this event, however we will not be awarding Senior category medals. The Senior category combines Youth A, Junior and Adult into a single combined category. The Senior results will be tracked to help manage our selection process for Senior Lead Nationals in Fall 2023 in accordance with our published Selection Policy.
